Bangladesh is a populated country where the population is about sixteen(16) crore and its growth rate is about 1.2%. Rice is the most important foods of Bangladeshi people, basically, they live on rice. There are about 1,500 rice Mills in the country of which 30% market share holds by Rashid group( Rashid Agro Food Products Ltd. & Rashid Automatic Rice Mills Ltd.). Rashid Minicate Rice is the number one brand all over the country. The present government has taken several initiatives to increase rice production to achieve food security. That's why rice production has been growing rapidly and achieved food surplus. Now we have the opportunity to export rice. Bangladesh has already exported Fifty thousand tons of rice to Srilanka in the year 2014-2015 of which 50% has been exported by Rashid Group. Rashid Group also provides the major portion of rice required for Government consumption.
Md. Abdur Rashid Managing Director and Chairman of the Group started his Business in the year 1985 at Kushtia. At the beginning of his business, he was a trader of Paddy & Jute. After the successful trading business, he has established mane more Rice, Oil, Paper & Other Mills.
