Expolanka Holdings is a global diversified conglomerate rooted in Sri Lanka. The group specializes in logistics, leisure and investments.
Expolanka companies are known for challenging the status quo with a global vision and a strategic growth plan that places the group at the forefront of driving innovation, growth and change in every aspect of business – a successful formula that has earned Expo a place as a market leader across all three sectors.
The Expolanka story begins in 1978, when the Kassim family founded Expolanka Limited as an exporter of fresh produce. The team was driven by a strong spirit of ‘dare to do’ and their keenness to explore Sri Lanka’s open economy’s potential made Expolanka a pioneer in several key industries, with business that has thrived both within and beyond the country’s borders.
Expolanka Freight was established in 1982 and soon the company was diversifying into multiple sectors including airline services, travel and tea. It also began expanding beyond Sri Lankan borders in 1992. In 2003, Hanif Yusoof and the Kassim brothers established Expolanka Holdings, bringing the Expolanka brand’s many investments under one umbrella. With the rapid growth and a view to sustain the family business, the group went public via an IPO on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
Today Expolanka companies specialize in end to end solutions in a few key sectors-logistics, leisure, and investments. Expolanka thrives in emerging markets with challenging operational environments, where it has been at the forefront of driving innovation and infrastructure investments lobbying for multilateral agreements that have made it easier for countries to trade with each other. An emphasis on strategic growth has been key to the company’s success; the main focus is on strengthening core infrastructure, investing in the right knowledge to mitigate risk and securing a committed team to enable this vision.
